Play with Animals by SUDS Writers Group

Wednesday 31 August 2011
Vet Roundhouse

This Verge Festival, all-new, site-specific works – fresh from the fertile minds of our brightest young playwrights – will bring to life one of the University’s rarely seen treasures. In 1975, SUDS first produced a season of avant-garde plays in the Roundhouse: a 1920’s wooden gazebo nestled in the heart of the Faculty of Veterinary Science. Originally built as an equine operating theatre, audiences sat in the old viewing gallery. This year, SUDS returns to this little-known gem of university heritage. This time they’re armed with members of the SUDS Writer’s Group; a prattle of writers, a panic of directors and a pander of actors will create and shape a series of new plays designed especially for the Roundhouse. What will surface from this creative maelstrom? Shows are to be held in the late afternoon to make use of natural light, thus also slotting smoothly into your Verge schedule.
