USU C&S Room Bookings

The USU offers a number of free rooms for Registered Clubs and Societies to book for Events and activities. Rooms which are booked outside of the times listed below may incur a staffing charge. Ask at the C&S Office for details. The rooms below can only be booked via Orion Online Portal

USVC bookings for University venues, spaces, lawns and BBQs

You may have read that Campus Infrastructure and Services (CIS) has now taken over responsibility from the Venue Collection for casual bookings for University-owned venues. Please be advised that all University owned venues will now be managed by “University Venues” a unit within CIS. If you would like to make a booking – the existing Venue Bookings website provides a self-service option.

Access to the University Booking System

You are able to access the University booking system as follows:
Click on to timetable. If you don’t have the link available then you can find the web site by: Logging on to the University of Sydney website
Click on to Staff Go to “book room”
This will take you within the booking system to ‘Bookings’ and here you will be able to view rooms available, as well as descriptions of their location, the facilities they offer and their location on campus. You will also then be able to complete and submit your request via the online booking form.

Costs for University venue or space hire

Clubs and Societies can book University class room/tutorial spaces free of charge, for bookings which occur, Monday through Friday between the hours of 1.00pm and 2.00pm. Note that some larger commercial spaces cannot be utilised, such as the main halls and large lecture theatres.

New Clubs and Societies who have not been recognised and officially affiliated by the USU are allowed one booking for their first meeting ONLY. For all other bookings involving venue costs, please contact our office for details. You will be required in the first instance to complete the Online Booking Form (see ‘Access to the University booking system’ above). All registered Clubs and Societies will be eligible for a saving of over 40% against the standard hire rates.

BBQ Hire

There are currently eight stationary BBQs available on campus, provided by the University which are free of charge, they are located:-

Civil Engineering Sink Lawn BBQ
Botany Lawn BBQ
Faculty of Science (Eastern Avenue)
3 Located at the rear of Manning House
Squash Courts Roof Top BBQ
Bosch BBQ

The above can be booked through the CIS. It is the responsibility of the hirer to ensure the BBQ is operated in a responsible manner and it is left neat and tidy for the next user. Please wipe down all surfaces, remove all rubbish and place in the bins provided. If the BBQ is left in an unclean state, the hirer will be banned from using the BBQs for the remainder of the year. You will need to provide any BBQ utensils required to assist with cooking such as tongs, scraper, paper towels and oil to assist with cooking and cleaning. Occupational health and safety standards which must adhered to. If a Club or Society cannot provide proof that they are equipped to successfully hold such a BBQ, use of the facility may not occur.
