On behalf of the Directors and Staff of the University of Sydney Union, I would like to wish you all a restful break and a Happy New Year!
2009 has been an incredible one for the USU. In our 135th year, we ran the largest O-Week ever, launched a new International Student’s Lounge, celebrated the 25th year of our famous Band Comp, funded more Clubs & Societies than ever before, became cultural partners with all residential colleges on campus, opened the Verge Gallery for aspiring student artists, maintained our ranking as the #1 debating institution in the world, opened the JFR Plaza, and managed the biggest Revue program in the country.
We have sold thousands of cups of coffee, extended our opening hours for students studying late, and run a huge entertainment program in our bars.
And just in case there was any doubt, Sydney University was named by the National Union of Students as the best in Australia for the student experience!
While you’re on holidays, enjoying the sunshine in Sydney or travelling somewhere cool, our staff will be working tirelessly to make sure that your student experience in 2010 is better than ever. They are dedicated to making your life at uni as fun and stimulating as possible. It is an honour to work with them.
So if you are a returning or new student in 2010, remember to pick up an Access Benefits Card during your enrolments in January or during O-Week in February. It’s not only your ticket to great discounts on and off campus, but also your way to support and access all of the activities that the Union has to offer. 100% of all the revenue goes straight back into the student programs you love.
There is already so much to look forward to in 2010. We have an exciting new look Bull, a major new social justice program, new Revues on the horizon, and a more vibrant Access Card program that rewards your loyalty
Have a fantastic summer! I look forward to seeing you all in 2010.
