Medical Revue
The Medicine Faculty and University of Sydney Union proudly present the 2011 Medicine Revue: 'Beauty and Deceased'.
Directed and performed by faculty students, the revue is a riotous musical and comedy sketch show that raises funds for the Cure Cancer Australia Foundation and the Milk Crate Theatre. Consistently hailed a success, and with over $43 000 raised for charity last year, the Medicine Revue has a rich and colourful his...tory that is set to continue.
Gripped by a fascination with death from a young age, thanks to her pathologist father, Belle has completed her medical degree and has secured an (increasingly coveted) internship at Royal Prince de Beaumont Hospital – finally bringing her closer to the dead.
But all is not well in this house of healing. There are rumours of strange research being carried out in the morgue by Dr B. East and his group; experiments threatening to cure death. Relentlessly trying to push back the frontiers of medicine, they delve ever deeper into the unknown and not so quite alive, where all should be afraid to enter.
Will the courageous and handsome, though fundamentally misguided, Dr B. East and his team be lost forever? What can the necrophilic but oh-so-lovely Belle do to help, and what chance has she got when the headstrong and virile orthopaedic surgeon is so besotted with her?
Ripped straight from the headlines, Beauty and Deceased is at once a love story and a dire warning. In what is definitely not the most beautiful love story ever told, and featuring the singing, dancing, and acting prowess of Sydney University medical students, Beauty and Deceased promises to make you laugh, sing, dance, clap and cry.
The students and faculty warmly welcome you to this evening of side-splitting entertainment.
